GHOST Armchair by Fiam
Designed in 1987 by Cini Boeri, the Ghost chair has become a classic of contemporary design exhibited in the most prestigious museums in the world. True technical success, the Ghost armchair is made of a single bent tiny glass element (only 12 mm). The glass chair is cut and folded like a giant origami. It combines artisan excellence expertise with innovative technology, Ghost shows to what extent FIAM present challenges more and more innovative in terms of glass processing. The glass shall be made flexible curves and sinuous shapes, unbelievably fluid. Despite its incredible finesse, Ghost is ultra resistant (weight supported: 150 kg). The absolute transparency of the glass lets in light and gaze. Evanescent, Ghost seems to unsubscribe and become a dematerialized element that adds to the ambience of his presence without burdening. Designer Cini Boeri, about Ghost: "I would never have thought of making a chair from glass ....my initial distrust of an idea which seemed quite unrealistic was overcome by the desire to take up the challenge and see whether it could actually be made, whether FIAM would be clever enough to transform the concept into reality."
